If little girls are made of "sugar and spice", then I must be craving a little more spice. My friends would argue that I have a lot of spice in my life already, but a girl can never have too much, as far as I'm concerned. So, where else to get the best of spice than India! February 1st I'll be heading to Southern India where I'll join my friend, Diane Seed and six others for a food, spice, and cooking tour of Goa and Kochi, where southern Indian food is at its best. Diane is a classy British woman who found her true love in Rome nearly 30 years ago, where she has lived ever since. She has written numerous cookbooks, and led many cooking tours in Italy, Greece, Istanbul, and India. Last year I joined her in Sicily, and had so much fun I decided to spice up her Indian tour with a little midwestern American twang. I started packing a week ago, and should probably take a photo of the inside of my suitcase. I'm taking more cooking utensils and gadgets than clothing....no kidding! I was told there were two chefs I would work with who have few tools to use in the kitchen. Well, I spent an afternoon at the cooking store, and had a ball throwing all my favorites in the basket to share with my new friends. And just think of all the room I'll have left in my suitcase after I give away the goodies! (Yes, there will be time for shopping). So, in the next couple weeks I'll be posting stories and photos of this much-anticipated adventure. |
